Welcome 5th Grade Students!

Welcome 5th grade parents and students!  We are excited of the prospect of you joining BAND here at McLean 6th Grade Center, and on up through McLean Middle School and Paschal High School.  The best way to make sure your student is in band next year for the 21-22 school year is to be sure your student selects band as their 1st choice elective when course signups begin with our counselor in February/March.  Your student does not need ANY prior experience with a band instrument to join band.  We start from the very beginning!  6th grade is also the only year when a student can start band, there are not beginning band classes in middle or high school.  We will have a time later for the band directors to help you select your instrument.  Instruments can be obtained through a music store or through the school once an instrument selection has been finalized through Mrs. Traughber.  The best thing you can do now is to watch this video to get an idea of what instrument you might like to play in band.  It is best to have a "top 3 list" of instruments you would be happy with, then we can help you narrow the choice down.  email lindsey.traughber@fwisd.org with any questions.  WELCOME TO THE BAND FAMILY!
