Why Private Lessons?Private lessons are designed to assist students further themselves in their musical ability. Students already performing in an ensemble will gain great strength from the advanced pace and more challenging material a professional private lesson instructor can provide. In a private lesson, students receive weekly one-on-one attention that is not always possible in a large band class of 50 students or more. They learn more specific information about their instrument, are challenged further, and tend to gain immense self-confidence from the lesson experience. Students who may not receive consistent one-on-one mentorship with a teacher are able to work on a weekly basis with a professional musician, building important 21st century skills such as accountability, discipline, goal setting, and perseverance. Many students build a great relationship with their private instructor, and will work with the same private instructor through high school band, and stay in touch even after graduation. There is no better way for your musician to help themselves and the McLean Band than by consistently participating in weekly private study. |
When Do Private Lessons Happen? We strive to make private lessons as convenient as possible for both parent and student; however, lesson times typically depend on the private teacher's schedule, as well as your student's schedule. Many of our teachers come during class time, or directly before or after school. We as the directors work to coordinate these lesson times so that students can receive the maximum amount of help possible. Private lessons can also occur in the evenings or weekends if that is most convenient for you and your family. Private Lesson Scholarships and Financial AidIf you are interested in private lessons but are worried about the financial commitment, PLEASE contact Mrs. Martien or Mrs. Traughber. We are here to help you, and want to work with you to find the best solution for your student!
